Covid-19 Increasingly Massive, IDI Asks the Government to Lockdown

JBN NEWS ■ The central and regional governments have issued several policies related to the handling of the Corona virus in Indonesia. Social distancing is the policy chosen by the government in overcoming the Corona virus, as well as efforts to maintain the economy so that there is no crisis.

However, this option has not been deemed sufficient by the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) to suppress the spread of the China virus or Covid-19, aka Corona. In fact, they ask the government to immediately implement the Lockdown policy.

"Yes, very strongly agree to Lockdown and ask for immediate effects because this is important," said Head of the IDI Covid-19 Task Force Professor Zubairi Djoerban, as quoted by Republika.co.id, today (3/22/2020).

Prof. Zubairi reminded about the potential of snowballs in the spread of the Corona virus in Indonesia. That is, it is very possible the spread of Corona in Indonesia is increasingly massive and out of control.

Therefore, locking is the best choice for the government to anticipate the surge in patients suspected of Corona nationally.

However, Prof. Zubairi understands that the current dilemma is faced by the government. But he insisted on asking the government to implement a policy that was basically the same as Lockdown, even though it had different provisions.

"As long as what is being done now is the same problem as locking, there's no need to use locking when it's okay," he said.

Meanwhile, the government can maximize overall social distencing policy and high discipline and be more serious in advocating work policies from home, closing schools, canceling meetings, singing, eating in restaurants for picnics by asking people to stay at home. (Roll/R)
