Indonesia Sends 94 Teachers to teach in Malaysian Plantations

JBN.CO.ID ■ The Ministry of Education and Culture sent 94 teachers to teach in a number of Community Learning Centers in Malaysia.

"The sending of teachers is an effort to fulfill the rights of Indonesian children to get basic education," said the Minister of Education and Culture when releasing teachers in Jakarta, Thursday (10/17/2019).

The teachers will teach at CLC located in plantations in Malaysia. CLC is a place for children from Indonesia whose parents work in the fields and plantations.

Most of the children born on plantations become illegal because they do not have legal documents. The above problems become complex when the children enter school age.

Children cannot register for formal education because they do not have official documents. The solution was built by CLC as an effort to fulfill the rights of Indonesian children to get basic education.

The Minister of Education and Culture asks teachers to work hard in educating Indonesian children in Malaysia. In addition, he also requested that the teachers do not have legal problems in other countries.

The Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Supriano, said that this year there were 2,932 registrants participating in the selection.

"This is an effort by the government to be able to provide educational services to Indonesian children abroad," Supriano said as released by Antaranews.

CLC itself, said Supriano, only exists for elementary and junior high school levels. As for the high school level, his side brought the students closer to study in high schools in the border area.

At present there are at least 50,000 Indonesian school-age children in Malaysia. This year, the Ministry of Education and Culture encourages at least 18,000 children to study at CLC.
