MUI will continue to encourage the development of the halal industry


JBN.CO.ID ■ Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Prof. KH. Ma'ruf Amin said, the perspective of halal tourism is not changing tourist objects into halal, but halal in question is the provision of food served in restaurants, the availability of places of worship and hotels that can have halal standards.

"But the services we provide are halal. So that people who visit West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) feel comfortable and pleasant. So they will never change their nature or other attractions," Ma'ruf Amin said at the International Conference on Halal Tourism in the City of Mataram, NTB, Friday (11/10/2019).

According to the elected Vice President, MUI will continue to encourage and sustain the development of the halal industry in Indonesia, especially in NTB which is actively developing halal tourism. Moreover, NTB has been named the best halal tourist destination in the world in 2015.

"Our efforts to improve halal tourist destinations to be more beautiful. So that it becomes a special attraction and has a uniqueness compared to other regional tourism. Of course, with halal standards in food and drink certainly meets international halal standards," he explained.

According to Amin, the government through the Ministry of Tourism will continue to improve halal tourism destinations. Such as restaurants, hotels, travel and other supporting facilities. So people come to Indonesia and NTB feel safe and comfortable.

Moreover, NTB has an Islamic Center which is designated as a religious tourism icon and has previously been inaugurated decorative lights that add to its uniqueness.

"This is an interesting icon for the development of halal tourism," added Ma'ruf Amin.

In addition, Ma'ruf Amin explained, more than 50 of the world's halal certification bodies refer to the MUI standard. Therefore, MUI has given a lot of recognition to halal institutions abroad. Among them, Sincung lawful for Taiwan. The institute is an institution that represents MUI in Taiwan. Besides in Taiwan, there are also in Korea with the name 'This is Korean Halal'.

"For this reason, MUI has an interest in developing halal tourism together with the tourism ministry," he said.
